Australia vs. West Indies

Coulter Nile innings of 92 runs and Steve Smith's steady innings set a target of 288 runs for West Indies losing all wickets. In reply, the West Indies was able to make only 273 runs and Australia won the match by15 runs.


Both Australian opener David Warner and Aaron Finch returned to the pavilion scoring 3 and 6 runs. Usman Khawaja too could not add many runs and returned to the pavilion scoring 13 runs. Maxwell then went back without opening the account and was struggling at a time when the team lost five wickets for only 50 runs, but after the entry of Coulter Nile's 92 runs innings and Steve Smith's steady innings. Given a target of 288 runs. West Indies' most economical bowler Andre Russell, who took 2 wickets in 8 overs giving 41 runs. Carlos took 3/67 in 10 overs and Thomas took 2 for 63 runs in 10 overs.


In reply, the Caribbean team lost the wicket of Evin Lewis at the score of 7 runs.  Chris Gayle also could not stay for long, and Stark bowled Gayle at the score of 21 runs. Wicketkeeper Hope and Jason Holder, however, tried to fizz in the match but Mitchell Starc's fatal bowling did not allow any Caribbean to stay on the pitch for much longer. Starc took 5 wickets giving 46 runs in 10 overs. Hetmyer, Russell, and Carlos managed to score only 21, 15 and16 runs.


West Indies will play their next (third) match on June 10 against South Africa and Australia will play their next match on June 9.
