Sunday, June 8, India defeated Australia by 36 runs in the match played at Oval. Today, while performing well in all the three departments of the game, Australia did not give up on chasing the score and at one time Australia's wicketkeeper-batsman Alex gave the hope to win the match but lost it by 36 runs due to falling wickets at regular intervals from the other end. Shikhar Dhawan proved the captain's decision right by playing the finest 117 runs.

Today all Indian batsmen were giving their best performance. Both the openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma gave India a fabulous start. Thanks to the century partnership of both the openers, India gave a huge target of 353 runs to Australia. And along with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have recorded the most shared partnerships in the ICC tournament. Shikhar Dhawan appeared in some different style yesterday and the Indian team would have felt very relieved that their star batsman has returned to the form. Rohit Sharma got out at 57 runs. Virat Kohli, who came down on the first innings, also appeared in his old form and gave spectacular evening. Kohli scored 82 runs off 77 balls with 4 fours and two sixes. Provided a good finish to the team. KL Rahul scored 11 runs in 3 balls with 1 fours and 1 six and remained unbeaten. Indian batting has dominated the Australian bowling throughout the match.

Australia' batsmen chasing the target of 353 runs was very steady. David Warner was batting in his style. Warner scored 84 runs in 36 balls. Australia's first wicket fell in the form of Finch on 61 runs, when Hardik Pandya ran to take the catch. After Finch's departure, Steve Smith, along with Warner, put the innings ahead but when the team's score was 133, Warner got out on the ball of Bhuvneshwar. Usman Khawaja and Glenn Maxwell scored 42 and 28 runs respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jaspreet Bumrah got 3-3 wickets while Chahal took 2 wickets.
