Paes-Worrella, second seeded pair defeated Vietnam Open title

Leander Paes of India and Miguel Angel Reyes Varela of Mexico lost to the top-seeded pair of Vietnam Open. Both were beaten by the second seeded Taipei's Cheng-Peng Sih and Indonesia's Christopher Roongat 6-3, 2-6, 11-9. Final match lasted one hour and 16 minutes. Seah-Roangat secured 67% of first semester and 50% marks on the second. He broke the service break of Paes-Varela four times out of eight times. Paes-Warrela pair gets first position with 73% and second position 22%. They won 58% of the total service points.

Paes losing his the first set, Paes and Varela fought back to take the 2nd  6-2 to force the match tie-breaker. It went all the way as well with the Taipei-Indonesia pair emerging 11-9 winners to life the title at the US $54,610 tournament. The Indian-Mexican pair of runners-up will get 48 ATP points and 1.26 lakh prize money. At the same time, Seeh-Roangta, who won the title, got 80 ATP points with a reward of 2.18 lakh.

“ He was really happy with the off-season training he has done. He has gotten stronger, faster  and he  feel really good with his  game and he won’t be surprised if he has  really good year,” Paes had said after his defeat earlier this month at the Maharashtra Open.


Leander Adrian Paes  is an Indian  tennis player who is the one of the best doubles and mixed doubles players of all time, having achieved a career Grand Slam in each discipline. He is the Indian state sports ambassador of Haryana. He is the Indian's most successful tennis player, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honour he has received in1996 - 97 ,the Arjuna Award in 1990, he has been  Padma Shri award in 2001 and its third Highest Award the Padma Bhushan in January 2014 for his (outstanding contribution) to tennis in India. Miguel Reyes-Varela  is a tennis player from Mexico. The multiple seasons of Davis Cup,  he played in the 2011 Mexican Davis Cup squad.
